SD 1799–1830: Another month gone and the fifth anniversary of the start of this all. I should reflect, but I’ve made writing these feel like a task to cross off a list, so… I won’t. I really wish my apostrophes could automatically get curly in the Gutenberg editor. Everything is so hard. Le sigh. Deep thoughts.
Celebrating a lowkey VD with some heart-shaped pizza from Pizza Hut.

Reconnected with Barrett and Andy for some much needed brunch and venting and espressos martini.

Followed that lovely brunch by going to see the newly opened Wicker Park Barnes and Noble which took over the former bank formerly occupied by a fancy Walgreen’s. I was pleasantly surprised by how busy it was and also glad to see Barnes and Noble returning to more of a book focus over the toys and gifts. I didn’t end up buying anything, but it’s the thought that counts. I was somewhat surprised to see the basement isn’t open, so there’s no book vault which feels like a missed opportunity.

I had several luxurious stays at a spa, which I mean hanging out with Derek.

I did a bit more mini painting with a semi-permanent workstation setup on a card table behind my desk. I would like to be doing more, but you see, Civilization VII came out, so… you know. Also, the light and magnifier thing I bought off of Amazon tried melting its cord and adapter. Going to try again with another plug but not optimistic, so that’s a bit frustrating. The magnetic arms are still useful at least, but the loss of the light isn’t great.
Made a few trips out to Logan Arcade and checked out the new Dungeons & Dragons pinball table which is pretty fantastic.

Had more brunch. First time back to Parson’s in a bit. Can’t wait for actual warm weather and patio season to return.

Saw the new Gundam movie Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX which was pretty enjoyable with an interesting twist. Here’s my mav:

Had a busy week at work where I was in the office for four days with some very productive client meetings. We also went to Top Golf, which was a disaster, but a fun disaster at least.

We had a few days of 60 degree+ weather so I made sure to go outside for a few minutes to squint into the sun.

I celebrated six months since seeing Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.

My Fridays have been pretty busy, shockingly, so have not been making as many trips to Estereo but trying to squeeze them in when I can.

We had a fun semi-St. Patrick’s, semi-Matt’s birthday (though we forgot to say that or sing to him) potluck brunch on Sunday with a lot of friends we haven’t seen in awhile. We also successfully introduced new gays to old gays. I should have taken more photos. Or at least one good one. But it was snowing for some reason. In mid-March. After a string of 60 degree days. So it goes! So it blows. Midwest weather. Etc.

Did I mention I’ve played over 115 hours of Civ VII since launch? I am very productive and busy. I have to make sure to enjoy the bad UI before they fix everything. I am kind of joking but I have been reasonably productive, all things considered. Have to focus on something at least, given the horrors.
