SD 2,368–2,410: September was a blur and it still feel like the first days of October even though it’s halfway over. Work’s been busy so September was a bit less exciting than August but I managed to leave the house a couple of times.
I’m overdue for a trip to Milwaukee but the Discourse (coffee) has come to Chicago in pop-up form in Fulton Market, so I made it there to enjoy a Lana del Fog in the state of Illinois. My Figma hat also left the barista speechless.

The location happened to be across from the other Estereo location, which I’d never been to. It was a bit disorienting how similar the decor is at both locations. I missed my regular bartenders though.

I finally made it out for a handful of bike rides on the 606. By which I mean… two? Three? And then managed to wipe out on some gravel a block and a half from home due to oncoming traffic in a street that’d been tore up all summer. Thankfully I was already going slow so just ended up with some bruising on my thigh and nothing serious.

Then I made it to the Mystery Science Theater 3000: RiffTrax Experiments screening and got to see my name in lights!

I somewhat needlessly upgraded to an iPhone 18 Pro because my storage space on my 16 was annoying. But now I’ve got a new camera to take bad pics with.

I’m pretty sure Matt took this pic but it was cute so I stole it.

Still working on Saffron running away from me 🙁
Mysterious Skin has been having anniversary screenings so I dragged myself out late one Saturday night to see it because I knew I’d regret missing it. Beautiful, upsetting film that hits different at this age.

I managed to tear myself away from work long enough to finish the new Diablo IV expansion. I am old now so here’s a photo of my monitor instead of a real screenshot.

Jess and Cindy were in town so we all made it out to dinner with them and ate at Miller’s Pub for the first time. I know where I’m going next time I want steak in the loop!

Went to Anne and Renee’s for a backyard fire because it’s finally fall. Nice to see them for the first time in awhile.

Finally wore my Fitger’s Brewhouse shirt out for the first time to see Joan Crawford Goes to Hell because I’m cute.

And then found the Lake Effect Brewing patio for a nice fall Saturday drink and hang wherein I read all of Haruki Murakami’s Strange Library. It certainly was a Murakami short story, but it had me feeling nostalgic for Chipp Kidd whose work is its own form of nostalgia. Lenses. Reflections. Refractions. Etc.

Cole’s Bar is having a very cool black light show at the moment so checked that out on a Monday night and also bought some delicious macaroons.

Went to see Infinite Wrench at the Neo-Futurists with Derek and some friends of his that were visiting. One of the plays was “Neo-Futurists in 240p” which had a player ask to borrow my glasses so I then watched the last half of the show without them. Very immersive!

This week Matt, Dane, and I along with John and Lauren went to see Castle Rat at the Concord Music Hall which was a fun show. It’s where we’d seen GWAR earlier this year, so I imagine there’s some sort of requirement that all acts that play there involve giant puppets. Here is a terrible concert picture of the occasion.

The weather has cooled down after being unseasonably warm last weekend, but the sun is back after a few grey days so I will take it. Had a trip to the suburbs for an afternoon hang with the devs which was lovely and refreshing. We gotta make the most of the time we’ve got.
