SD 2173–2220: Oops I should’ve reflected on six (?!) years of this on March 13th. Unfortunately I’ve been too busy doing spreadsheets.

But not to focus on the important things: every time I write one of these I anguish over the straight apostrophes and quote marks in the editor and fight with remembering the keyboard shortcuts to get the quotes going in the right direction. I just decided to google recommendations for WordPress in particular and… there’s a built in texturizer. They get converted without me having to do anything. What will I do will those 10 extra hours of my life this year? Write more blogs! Use more tokens! The world of possibilities unfurls before me.

Ok. So. End of February. March. Beginning of April.

Head lac is healing well and season 2 of The Pitt is banging.

Work had its annual kickoff and welcomed all the newly absorbed remote employees from sister agency. It was quite a spread.

We were offsite for a full day at the Chicago Athletic Association with breakfast at Cindy’s Rooftop which has beautiful light and views in the morning.

The kickoff was a bit bittersweet being my last as an official Pivot employee before the transition. But still great to spend time in person with everyone and meet a bunch of new people I’ll be working with more going forward.

Matt finally shamed me enough to get a new dining set from Article ordered to replace our falling apart bargain bin Target chairs and scuffed up particle board IKEA table. It’s nice! Reviews said the chairs were more grey than green and very low and they were right! But it’s fine.

The chair delivery was a bit anxiety inducing as the delivery partner left them outside the parking lot gate which I don’t have an opener for, forged my signature, and didn’t call or buzz me. I only happened to be checking my email and saw a delivery receipt come through. I had to drag the boxes around the block and into the front entryway and mailroom and wait for Dane to get home to get them upstairs.

The table delivery was much smoother.

I continue to keep it cute.

However, Saffron keeps it cuter.

Brunches continue despite the horrors but at a reduced pace.

For Matt’s birthday he also shamed me into getting the sink in our master bathroom fixed. It’d been running non-stop for three months. I… am not always good with home maintenance. It was a reasonably successful first Thumbtack experience. Now just to get the bathroom vent that’s been out of commission for six years replaced, replace the broken closet door that’s also on year six or so, figure out the leak next to the bathtub, redo some electrical… I’ll stop there before I get sad.

We had a delicious mocha cloud cake from Tous Les Jours and a bunch of friends came over for Matt’s birthday who had not yet seen the new couch or met Saffron. We.. haven’t really had people over for some time.

The world continues to turn.

My run on sentences and incorrect hyphenation proves this is written by a human.

April 1 was the big day at work when work stopped being one thing and started being another while still also being a lot of the same thing. It’s going alright. I’m very excited for the opportunity and love the new team. I just have a lot of work to do to feel up to speed in the new role. Still working out some transition logistics as well. But every day there’s a little bit less to do on the transition side and I’ve learned a bit more of the new role. Eat that elephant herd stampeding towards you one bite at a time.

Celebrated the second day in the new job trespassing in the old office (that’s a joke, I’m still going in on same schedule at least until new responsibilities make logistics too much. But I’ve settled into the hybrid routine so keeping with it for now.).

I then celebrated that evening by going to see GWAR.

It was very [redacted].

I’ve continued going to movies more frequently. Project Hail Mary was great (and I really loved the book). Super Mario Galaxy was a movie.

It was fine. Beautifully animated but not too compelling otherwise.

Wuthering Heights… had a great soundtrack. Beautiful gowns, beautiful gowns.

I also saw Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair at the Music Box which was great to see all at once. The intermission bathroom line and the Fortnite short at the end were not so great.

And at some point in the last few months I managed to make it into a music video for The Biscuits. I’m famous!!!!
